What I still long for…
Such a gentle small wish remains as I age. I even keep a talisman to remind me of it within a soft velvet pouch, smaller than my palm.
A small rose quartz carved heart.
Rose quartz holds the vibration of unconditional love, inspires compassion, supports emotional and relationship healing, and boosts feelings of internal peace and calm.
Entrainment of the Heart is a magical alignment of one’s energy with another. If you have a minute or two, I’ll gladly share. It’s science.
I consider myself a bit of a “rock hound”. When I go walking I must have pockets. One can never have too many pockets. And when I return they will overflow with special stones I have found along the way. It happens every time. I cannot seem to help myself, nor would I even try.
I have stones all over my home, and even in my car, and my suitcase when I travel. I have an inexplicable connection to each one that comes to share space with me. (And I promise, I am not crazy). I’ve been this way as long as I can remember. Some of them move with me from home to home, others remain behind to belong to a different garden. I have many stones from polished to carved, from sand worn to pebbles. I enjoy each one. In particular, I seem to find heart shaped stones. They come to me whenever I go.
You might find it silly, but I talk with my garden before I go planting, asking the earth worms to move away so I do not harm them, and for the garden angels to guide my trowel to the right places to dig holes for each flower. Planting is not my favorite aspect of gardening, ranking well behind watering and dead heading. I do plant tho, every year.
When I am planting anything from bright annuals or relocating flowers to a new bed, I am gifted every single time by the garden with a heart shaped stone. I treasure each one of these, and they line most all my window sills and garden beds. I’ve had this type of stone connection for so long, I cannot recall when it began. Even as far back as when my oldest daughter was only three, I would call out to the garter snakes to vamoose from the field before I mowed. And I never once had to do the disgusting chore of removing snake guts from the mower, and when I’d weed, heart stones would show up.
Such things could never have been spoken aloud when I was younger, and I imagine it might still be a small risk so close to All Hallow’s Eve, what with witches being called out and all. Yet it’s true, and family will attest that I’m speaking the truth every year as my various heart shape collections grow.
My heart shaped collections remind me of my heart’s small wish, and the delight of entrainment.
Entrainment is the moment when the energy, the life force, the magnetic movement of molecules objects reach a close distance from each other, and begin to move synchronously. It is science, and pure magic mixed together as one.
Some of the first tests were done using pendulum clocks, hung on the same wall, a great distance apart. Their pendulums were set swinging at completely difference rhythms. The clocks were then slowly moved closer and closer to each other on that wall, until the incredible moment when their pendulums instantly began to swing to the exact same rhythm. They were in harmony.
One of the clearest examples below is of metronomes set to swinging at unique rhythms, and by the 2:35 minute mark every one of them is moving exactly the same.
Our bodies are very much like these metronomes, with moving molecules, rhythms and cycles. Women have been followed by many scientific studies that show after a group of women (whether co workers or close friends) have been around each other for a period of time (sometimes weeks or months) their monthly cycles will begin to happen at the same time. Groups of people living together will naturally begin to have interest in eating around the same time, and sleeping in similar patterns. Women who are very close emotionally can even be great distances apart and their bodies will still cycle in harmony. This is entrainment.
Entrainment gives us a sense of comfort, of belonging, of safety, and home. And it is one of the most powerful techniques we can use to maintain closeness to those we love. The simple act of standing within each other’s embrace, face to face, heart to heart for a period of two minutes will allow our bodies and more specifically our hearts to entrain.
Our hearts literally beat together in the exact same rhythm.
Nothing is required except to stand there.
No talking, no rubbing each other’s arms nor back, no kisses, no swaying nor movement of any kind is needed. Just. Stand. Still. Hold each other.
This is what I miss and is the still small longing of my heart on a daily basis, just a two minute hug with someone I love.
You are such a gentle soul! I loved reading this. I feel I'm a mirror reflection of you but born years after you were! I've got stones and crystals alllll over my home and I like to live with them, talk to them. I talk to my plants. I soil I water. The leaves I eat. Aah be blessed!!
Beautiful! TY for sharing your thoughts and your way of being in the world. I think there are more of "us" that we might know.
