Glad to hear that Dr. Jane is as lovely in person as she always sounds on the air.

She is exactly as she is when being interviewed or giving lectures. Petite, soft spoken, a very proper lady. I was so honored to meet her.

Loved those vignettes of the people whose lives touched yours. So happy to hear about Jane Goodall being as great as she seems to be from a distance; the Carolyn Myss comment did not surprise me (but finger snapping, really?); and I was entranced by your last story of the wisdom of your local priest, his wishes for you, and how you became a counselor!

Drop away Teyani! It’s always fascinating to hear more about the people I read and admire here in the Stack. You have a rich history and have intermingled with some interesting storytellers.

Tell us more 🙏❤️

What a wonderful invitation Dee. I’ve been very blessed to have met some incredible authors in my life… perhaps there will be a part two to this essay (?)

Yes please.

My only literary name-drop was meeting Toni Morrison in the lobby of a Kansas City hotel just before we were both set to deliver separate presentations. We had coffee for a moment. I’ll never forget it.
